Mining Tools

Rock Drill Software

What it is:

A Windows based program used to administer the Rock Drill Workshop at your mine.

Been using tick-off sheets or an Excel spread sheet to determine your costs?

Mining Tools provides a tried and trusted framework to keep a service history of all your drills and other equipment, so that a wide range of reports can be drawn, at the click of a button, reflecting statistics such as monthly costs, drills repaired, parts used, to name but a few.

Functionality:

Initially, you capture all the drill models in use. You also specify individual equipment, stating the serial number and in which shaft, section and gang it is used. You also enter the list of parts along with their prices. <<more>>

Then, every time a drill visits the workshop, the details are captured using easy point-and-click Windows methodology. The parts that were used are marked, the technician is identified and comments are added. <<more>>

That's all. In return for this, you get a comprehensive set of reports which can give you money spent per period specified, per area or even per individual drill. From detailed reports showing parts replaced during each service, through to summary reports, graphs and trends, the drills that cost the most to maintain, technicians that do the most work, drills currently in the workshop etc. <<more>>

Technical:

The system can be installed on several computers on your mine's computer network. All the users can then access the central database. Each user can be given access to selected functions, using the Permissions screen. According to the permissions given, the Main Menu will then be populated with the corresponding functions for that user.

The database can either be in MS Access or, if your mine has the infrastructure, in MS SQL Server 2000.

Mining Tools runs on Windows XP, 2000, NT4 and 98.

If your mine has a computer network, the system can be installed on several PC's (in the workshop and elsewhere) which will all connect to the central database. Otherwise, the system can be installed on a stand-alone PC in the workshop.
